Why/How to Add a Blog to Your WordPress Site

adding a blog post

Your website is where you show people the value you can provide, so wouldn’t it be nice if you could get more eyeballs on that site? Get people engaging with your message on this platform where you control the conversation?

A simple blog remains a powerful tool for achieving your goal of drawing attention to your website. How so? Two reasons:

  1. It’s a home base for generating unique content which you can then use to repurpose snippets on social media and draw friends/fans/followers back to the source – your website.

  2. Search engines love content, and they love new content. Sites rank better in search results when there is a lot of relevant content, and better still when there’s lots of new content.

What if I don’t have a website yet?

No worries. It’s pretty simple – you get a domain, hosting, install WordPress, then use a simple drag & drop platform to make a killer site. We are more than happy to walk you through this.

How to install a blog?

First, you’ll notice in your WordPress dashboard on the left that there is a posts tab. Click “Posts”, then click “Add New” at the top. This is how you create your blog posts.

There are a couple ways to display these blog posts on your site. The easiest way is described here at good ole’ dummies.com.

There are also other ways to display your blog using plugins. I love using the Elementor plugin, which is an amazing page builder for WordPress. If you have this plugin, you can simply drag and drop the “Post Grid” or “Post Timeline” widget onto any of your pages. Doing it this way allows you to add more to your blog page than just a list of posts.

And that’s all!

This was a short article, but I was asked the question so figured I’d write down my answer here. Give us a call if you’d like to talk about this or ask any questions. 858-229-6702
